- The DeltaShelta is built in the traditional style of Pacific Island houses. The design is culturally relevant to the indigenous architecture of the Pacific region.
- The triangular shape of the DeltaShelta can withstand the destructive forces of cyclones and earthquakes. It has been engineered to meet the Standard : AS/NZS 1170 – for structures built in cyclone prone areas.
- The DeltaShelta uses materials chosen for their long-life span. The buildings are constructed from treated NZ pine and materials that are corrosion and insect resistant.
- All materials in the DeltaShelta range can be easily transported to even remote building sites.
- Assembly of the DeltaShelta is straightforward allowing the homeowner to work alongside a trained builder to complete the project. The home can be built without the need for expensive tools.
- Construction times are quick – once a floor or a concrete block perimeter wall has been prepared, the home takes just a few months to complete.
- The DeltaShelta comes in a range of sizes and can include kitchen and bathroom facilities. The DeltaShelta can be built on a concrete block perimeter wall to increase the useable living area.
Features of the DeltaShelta
- Treated timbers and galvanised steel fittings
- All windows are covered with insect mesh
- Plywood shutters are part of the kitset and play an important role in ensuring that the DeltaShelta will stand up to cyclone strength winds. They must be stored and kept ready to be bolted on once a cyclone warning is given. The Loft area on the DS2 and DS3 come with a fire escape door in case of a fire.
- The DS2 and DS3 come with a ladder to access the loft area.
- Each DeltaShelta comes with 2 louvre vents for cooling in the apex of the building. These can be opened and closed using an extension pole.
- Handle and lock for the front and back door are supplied.

Certification
- Full cyclone certification can be provided which requires a suitably trained engineer testing the soil that the DeltaShelta is built on.
- The DeltaShelta has been engineered to withstand the strength of Category 5 cyclone winds, therefore, it is important that the DeltaShelta is built exactly to the plans supplied to achieve its cyclone rating.
- All construction procedures must be strictly followed.
- DeltaShelta Limited have a list of builders trained in the building of the DeltaShelta who are available to ensure that the home is built correctly.
- Materials in the DeltaShelta have been specifically selected for the role they play in strengthening the home. They must not be substituted for other materials.
- The DeltaShelta is made from timber and plywood treated to withstand insect and rot damage.
- The strength of the foundation plays an essential role in the cyclone rating of the DeltaShelta. The removal of soft top soils, steel reinforced concrete footings, floor and block nib wall all play an important role in the structural strength of the home.
Transportation
It is the responsibility of the homeowner to ensure the safe transport of all building materials to the building site taking all necessary precautions to ensure that materials are not damaged or mislaid. A comprehensive inventory of all parts is included.
